Globally informed. Regionally focused.

Tresane works with leaders and teams in Central Kentucky and across the Commonwealth. The thinking behind that work comes from a wider field than one region.

The work itself

Most of what we do begins in the same place: a leader who is good at their job, carrying more of the team than they intended to, and unsure which part of that is the job and which part is a pattern.

There is no universal playbook for that. There is a clearer way of seeing it, and there are five ways to work on it.

Leadership and team development

The core engagement. A leadership team gets clear on purpose and direction, then works through what alignment actually requires of them, over months rather than in a workshop. Cohort sessions, individual coaching, and a scorecard that shows where alignment is strong and where it is quietly creating drag.

Coach-mentor development

For organizations that want the capability inside the building rather than rented. Managers learn to coach: asking before telling, staying curious under pressure, and holding a conversation that changes what someone does next. This is the work that outlasts us, which is the point of it.

Workshop and project facilitation

Sometimes a group needs a day and a neutral person in the room. Strategy sessions, offsites, and the meetings where a real decision has to get made rather than deferred. Half-day, full-day, or across two days when the question is large enough to need the overnight.

Succession planning

Not a chart of names. The harder question underneath it: whether the people who would step up have been given anything to step up from, and whether the person leaving has made that possible or accidentally impossible.

Ongoing connection

Between engagements, leaders stay connected through our digital community and a weekly reflection. Alignment is practiced rather than achieved, and practice needs somewhere to keep happening.

Where we work

Tresane is based in Lexington, Kentucky, and most of our engagements are within an easy drive of it. We work with organizations throughout the Commonwealth, and the pattern we see in a Lexington leadership team is rarely unique to Lexington.

The wider view comes from elsewhere. Alongside the regional practice, David coaches leaders inside global organizations through an enterprise coaching platform: manufacturers, technology firms, and universities operating across several continents. Those leaders are navigating the same three things a Central Kentucky leadership team is navigating, at a different scale and with different vocabulary.

That is what globally informed means here. Not that we work everywhere, but that what we bring to a room in Lexington has been tested somewhere considerably less forgiving.

A commitment to Greater Lexington

Strong communities are built by strong organizations. Greater Lexington's vision of becoming a great place to live, work, and play depends in part on the strength of the organizations serving it, and on how well those organizations work together.

So Tresane commits a significant share of its capacity each year to nonprofit partners doing that work. There is no fee for our time. Partners cover hard costs such as assessments at cost, and nothing more.

Not a discount and not a single workshop. The same leadership and team development our paying clients receive, delivered across a full partnership period, to a small number of organizations at a time.

We keep the number small on purpose. A partnership that gets a strategy session and a handshake has not been given much. The organizations in this program get the real thing, which means we can only do it well for a few at once.

If your organization is working to make this region better and your leadership team is ready to treat this as a priority rather than a perk, we would like to hear from you.
